No? That's just impatient me?
If so, Look no further... Get your very active, very independent, very ambitious teen a summer job at one of Utah's many BSA Scout Camps over the summer. After 3 months of work & living at scout camp, with maybe 4 total days off at home, you should not be shocked to hear them having a conversation with another teen about how cool it was that their buddy troop had a spiritual experience. And how cool those spiritual experiences were.
Other fun byproducts are, they basically govern themselves (of course after years of being taught correct principles).
They feed themselves.
They don't bath if they don't want to, they just run down to the creek and dive in.
The parental cost is low (cost of a couple of full scout uniforms)
Your family food bill is cut by 1/5th (do the math on your own family size please)
They actually get a paycheck for this!
And many many more benefits to both the scout and the family...
Ty has even given up on summer soccer to work his 2nd year at Scofield Adventure Base about 50 miles east through Spanish Fork Canyon. He gets up there every Sunday about 6pm and doesn't come home till Saturday afternoon. So he has about 1/2 a day to prepare for the coming week. Do laundry, any shopping he wants, play with the dog, hang out with the family, etc...
I really see Ty maturing as a young man and I give a % of the credit to working at Scout Camp.

And cheaper than military schools, too! ;) Cool idea and great learning for Ty.
I think it's a great idea and a wonderful chance for him! I'm sure you miss him tons, but what fun for him at the same time!
Sounds like a great set up for the summer. I bet it's a lot of work & fun at the same time. Where do I sign myself up?
