Third time's a charm or is it?

Here is the phone call I got at work on the LAST day of school.

PHS staff: "Hello, is this Mrs. Smith?"

Me: "Yes" (I hate when I'm asked that!) It usually means something bad.

PHS staff: "Um, we've got your son here and he's hurt his arm and it's starting to swell and it hurts him alot."

Me: "Which son?"

PHS staff: "Um, I think he said his name was Christian."

Me: "Ok, I'll be there in a minute"

I picked up Christian and sho'nuf he's got this big bump on his wrist where it looks like he's broken something in there. Donny the trainer for Provo High was pretty sure it was broken and called the dr. to set up an appt. Xrays later, she said it was broken. Since he's broken the same arm TWO other times his bone has compressed. They wanted to leave some space between the broken parts. In order to do that they sort of have to pull apart the bones and set them that way. They sprayed him cold spray to deaden the spot where they would anethetize him. And boy was that weird...seeing them poke and prod ALL over in the spot of the break to numb him up so they pull apart his bones. Jens helped to hold/pull Christian's elbow in the opposite direction that the dr. was pulling.

Christian was playing bball with some friends...girls included and he slammed it and hung on the rim for awhile, swinging, he lost his balance and caught himself with his hand/arm.

Christian broke it in two different places: the bump that sticks out between your hand and your wrist is completely broken off and then farther down on the radius is a complete break across. I'll see if I can find the picture that the dr. drew and one that Jens took with his camera.

Graduation!!

Here you can barely see Coach Cardoso. He gave Jens a big hug as he passed him.

Jens' famous pose. Even in his yearbook under the senior highlight for soccer he's got this face. I should have used that instead of the nice poses for his graduation announcement.

For almost every graduate they did a slide show of a baby picture and the senior picture.

Going through to get the diploma. Here is Jens shaking Mr. Ray's hand and handing him a gumball. We could see that all the kids were giving him something but didn't know what it was until we asked Jens. I wonder...is that normal to do that? I don't remember doing that...but then again, I barely remember graduating too.

Eagle Court of Honor for Jensen and Austin

We had the COH on May 10. Both boys were put on the spot to see if they could recite the law and the oath. They did a great job.

We are so glad that we asked Mike to speak. He did an excellent job of highlighting Jens and his attributes as well as tieing in scouting. We love you Mike!

Brother Rosen pinning on the eagle award for Jensen. We're sooooo glad and lucky that we were able to have Brother Rosen conduct our court of honor. He was so professional and had the meeting going so smoothly without any flaws. It's like he's done this a hundred times.

From what I understand they have hundreds of flag poles that they hurriedly string up the flags up the poles and take them down, all in about 30 seconds, so they can literally say..."Well, yes it's been flown over the capital building"

Jens awards his "mentor" award/pin to Sister Brown. She is the one who spurred on Jens to get going and have the fire to finish up the eagle project. She knew exactly who to contact and took us to meet them. It's all in who you know.

Here is the cool part of the COH. The eagle presentation. I was so pleased with this gentleman! I wasn't sure what I expected but he surpassed my expectations many times. He was wonderful with the little kids, had great humor and told tons of facts about this great birdie. We will do this everytime!

The eagle left a little present on the floor. That was a show in itself.

MuuMuu Quilt

Here is my attempt of making this quilt. I made it several years ago and it's been used a ton. I backed and picoted it with what used to be her favorite color...blue chambray. You can kind of see the picoted edge on the right side. Here you can see Lori's.
